Review of past knitting

Way back here, I mentioned that I thought more knitting bloggers needed to do follow-ups of things they've knit.  Maybe 3-6 months after finishing, post a picture, review the fit, how the yarn held up, whether or not you wear it.  That sort of thing.  Well, I'm finally getting around to posting one of these myself.

I knit this version of the Cozy wrap out of Debbie Bliss Cotton Angora.  Details can be found here.  Actually, I may replace that picture in the gallery with this one. It's much prettier here.

Cozy

I wear this as a scarf and it gets a lot of wear in the fall/winter/spring.  I probably get more exclamations of how gorgeous this is and I can't believe you knit that on this than anything else I've knit.  My ego loves this scarf.

I've washed it a few times so there isn't as much angora flyaways as there were initially.  And it doesn't shed all over my clothes quite as much.  But, I have learned that angora, like mohair, is not friendly with my neck.  Those little angora fibers are prickley!  And when I get home from a day of wearing it, my neck is pink and scratchy.  But the yarn is holding up beautifully, with no pilling.  And with lace like this, I'll continue to wear it over a turtleneck.

So to summarize:  very succesful knit.

I love the idea of doing follow-ups to finished projects. I'll be doing my best and worst knitted projects of 2005 at the end of December.

Oh that one is lovely! And I've read a lot other knitters have made cozy and everyone has so many good things to say about the pattern! Maybe I should make one too.

What a pretty pattern. I'm glad to hear its holding up well. the other bonus of doing folow-up posts is that newer readers can see some of your past projects.

I maintain that reviewing past knits is a stellar idea. This is almost as important as a project's technical details. I'll do a review soon.

I, too, did not know that you knit Cozy in the past and am very glad to hear that it gets such a rave review from you (and garners so many lovely compliments when you wear it). Good to know how that Cotton Angora behaves as well!

hrm I'll have to look in my drawers and see what I can review, maybe even something that I knit pre-blog.
I can't even touch angora anymore, though I wasn't allergic before.

Hey, I have just thing stumbled onto your site and I am amazed by your projects. Everying is so beautiful. I have just started teaching myself how to knit. Finding crazy good knitters like you makes me think "maybe one-day" Again your stuff is gorgeous

Good idea about doing reviews. I can see why there're compliments. But it's funny that ego wins over the pink and scratchy neck. I'm like that too! :)

Excellent idea! I hope all people who wear handknits start reporting (not me, of course)!

Great to read your follow-up! That wrap is gorgeous.

What a gorgeous scarf! I agree reviews are great. I have so many things that I'm in love with right after I make them...then reality sets in!

That is one beautiful scarf...and a great idea to post how something actually held up. Someone else, I forget who, did that recently, and while she was wildly optimistic about how a project turned out at the start, a couple of months later she was not so thrilled, and it was good to see how one's mileage may vary.

That said, I knit a Clapotis out of Apple Laine silk and wool blend single ply, and while it pills and sheds like crazy, I still wear it because it's soft, warm, and colourful. I'm not sure I would knit with a single ply again, though it looks gorgeous in the dropped stitches, but I'm glad I knit this, even if it's beginning to look like a very colourful dishrag...

I'd heard that the cotton angora didn't hold up well, but yours looks like it did. Verrrrrry nice.

Fun post and beautiful scarf. I, like the others, love your idea of reviewing past knitting -- I think you've started a new trend!

This is a great review--and a great idea. Reviewing previous knits just makes sense. This Cozy is lovely ;)

heard that fox dropped AD, purly, and thought of you. commiserations! xx

Thanks for the wonderful review and the reminder to do one.

Cozy looks beautiful. I don't blame you for wearing it lots.
