I've been holding out on you
Back before I started this little blog, my boyfriend went yarn shopping with me one day and bought me 6 balls of GGH Soft Kid as I was fondling it for a long time in the store. Isn't he a sweetie? I had wanted the yarn for a while to knit a wrap out of Rebecca 24. The only one I've ever seen anyone knit is here. So I started it and have been haphazardly working on it. Actually it's been over ten months, and I've finished 1 ball. That's some sad progress.
I've been trying to decide if I want to continue on, even if it takes me another year to finish it. I've been hesistant, as it is mohair and itchy. I don't plan on wrapping it tightly around my neck, so I think it will be okay. And I do have a sentimental attachment to the yarn, so I decided to make the commitment to finish. I plan to do 2 rows every night before I go to sleep. With this pace, it should take me about 6 months to finish.
But the pattern really is gorgeous, so I think it will be well worth it.
That's a great idea to do a little every night. And the wrap is simply beautiful! Wow...

Wow, your boyfriend is a keeper :-) It looks great so far, I hope you keep on going on the wrap!

Gorgeous indeed! And the color is marvelous - what a sweet boyfriend.

I think you should defintely finish it. It's a great color and a pretty pattern!

So soft and foliage-y looking (is that a word?) - I'd finish it. What a keeper of a boyfriend you have there :-)

I love it! I hope you keep that boy around... yarn-purchasing boyfriends/husbands are not easy to come by. Just keep plugging away, it will be done sooner than you think!

I love the pattern. If you wear it outside your coat it wouldn't be itchy. Beautiful pattern, please continue.

Gorgeous! I love the pattern. It'll be worth all the itching. Just pop a Benadryl.

I liked knitting with Soft Kid. For mohair, it wasn't that bad. I love that color and your wrap will be divinely decadent. I'm glad you've stuck with it!

Yes, yes, it's worth it ... the pattern is beautiful ... the yarn is lovely ... and there is the boyfriend in the background ... so keep it up, Purly!

I love it! It looks like honeycomb :) Definitely keep it... even if it takes forever to knit. Lovely!

The colour is very apt for this stitch pattern, they look so much like little leaves. However, if you're concern about the itch factor, have you considerd knitting the Airy Cardigan from IK that calls for this yarn? You can then wear it over something. 6 balls are definitely enough for that pattern.

it does look like honeycomb! there's so much texture to it. i'm applying the "do a little every night" theory to an afghan that i started ages ago. it's working!
and hey -- why hasn't arrested development been on?

It's so pretty, I'll have to recheck my Rebeccas when I get home. The color is so delicate, it's perfect for the pattern. Just think of it as a bonus project

A year to finish! That's what I call a soul killer project. Totally not worth it. Stuff has to have an end to it....but then I am a bit crazy about getting the product sometime....one of the girls in my SnB has been working on the same sweater almost exclusively since May......SOUL KILLER! and its not even the knitting, its the embroidery.
So that's me. If its a soul killer you need something else for that yarn. Birch maybe?

Yes, the pattern is *so* gorgeous, as is the color.
That BF, he is one great guy.

Gorgeous! Both the pattern and the color ;)
I think it will be well worth the effort, even if it takes years to finish!

Beeee-yootiful! I actually saw Blossom's version of this the other day - and gasped at its beauty. After seeing this one, I've decided that this is a **must have**. Of course, Rebecca 24 is 'ausverkauft' (sold out), bummer. But.... THIS PATTERN IS ALSO IN THE 'SOFT KID' SPECIAL ISSUE! Which I already have! I'm so delighted - and I'd never realised before, because the picture in the magazine is so dreadful. Maybe that's why we haven't seen this all over blogland. ;) Thanks, both you and Blossom, for drawing my attention to it. :)

ooh, that is a lovely stitch pattern. i hate mohair myself, but i'd love to knit that pattern in a different yarn, maybe a silk ...

i love how the definition in the lace makes it look three dimensional! like it's jumping off the fabric. very pretty!

That color is amazing; so luminous. That stitch pattern is going to block out like a champ.
Keep the project, keep the yarn, keep the boyfriend! Lucky girl.

I'm diggin your "2 row a night" technique for those projects we want to finish but cannot quite get motivated for. I have one such UFO perfect for this technique. I'm glad you plan to finish your project -- it's beautiful!

Beautiful shawl! The pattern is really similar to the socks I'm knitting at the moment- but don't go running to my blog- I'm holding out on you...
(actually, I just haven't gotten around to photographing them..)
