I figured it out
Actually, Anna was the one who really figured it out. You may remember how I posted about the Turkish Cast On and how I like most everything about it except the little cross-hatch stitches I ended up with. Anna suggested that maybe I was knitting through the back loop. I wasn't, but I tried knitting through the back loop, and it worked!
When I was knitting them, I could tell that loops that become the stitches were twisted, so this makes sense now. So if you try this and have problems, try knitting through the back loop.
But this cast on does seem almost magical in its simplicity.
I also decided to use an 11-stitch variation of the Feather and Fan stitch rather than rib.
The 66 stitches don't give me the nice color variation I had with the 6o stitches before. There is a bit of pooling going on, although it is more apparent on the foot of the sock, but I think the 66 stitches will fit. Although with my luck these days, they might end up too big.
I wonder if this turkish co is the same as figure 8 because it says that you will probably have to knit into the back of sts so they don't twist. I love the feather and fan pattern you are doing, I may have to steal that idea for my next pair! It looks fabulous!

Don't ya just love those "ah ha" moments. Your toe looks perfect and I like the color variation. Doesn't look like its pooling too much. I'm sure it will be very pretty (and I'll keep my fingers crossed that they fit).

I tried the turkish cast on a few days ago, but I dont like that you need to needles since I dont have two of the same in circs. Ill have to practice it a little more so I dont get stretched out stitches like I did this time around. Yours looks perfect, Im freaking jealous. hrmph

I like the turkish cast on ... and just for yahaira's info, actually I did it with just one circular needle ... but a long one would be better.

I'm loving that yarn! Mountain Colours Bearfoot Mmmmm... Feels lovely to wear too! You and Nicole (craftapalooza) have nearly convinced me to go and buy some more circs for socks.
