Wimbledon: The Knitting Challenge

I said I was going to post Monday, but some stuff happened and I wasn't able to post until now.  So here it goes.

I'm a huge fan of watching tennis, and with my TiVo, it makes it entirely feasible for me to watch all the coverage of Wimbledon.  The next two weeks are going to be a fest of sitting on my couch, knitting, and watching the ball bounce back and forth.  It's the best!

And since I'm a girl who loves any sort of competition, but due to a sore winner personality, I try to compete with myself most of the time.  So my challenge to myself is to to try to knit up nearly all of this sock yarn before Wimbledon ends.

6 hanks of Koigu and 4 balls of Dalegarn's Baby Ull.  What will this be made into?

1) a test-run of the cute and funky socks out of the mottled green and yellow Koigu

2) a pair of the cute and funky socks for Nona out of the two blue and one green Koigu

3) a test-run of the Unst socks out of one skein of the yellow Baby Ull

4) a pair of the Unst socks for my Sockapalooza pal out of the blue Baby Ull

I have sufficient anxiety about knitting for others, especially when it comes to socks,  that I like to knit myself a trial run of the pattern to work out the kinks before I knit the pair to be gifted.  So the test-runs will be for me and I'll knit the second sock later.

I've also come to the sad realization that I am a slow knitter.  I thought I might be average, but I'm slow.  There is no way around it.  So six socks in two weeks, even two weeks where the majority of my free time will be spent knitting, is probably just barely doable.

I did manage to finish the shrug, the baby sweater is blocking, and I finished the single sock that I haven't posted about yet, so my plate is clean.  Photos to come.

Oh this is very exciting! I can't wait to see all of these socks!

Purly, you're way too sweet to try out the sock pattern before knitting the real deal! I know I'm not your Sock Pal, but I wish everyone put that much thought into their sock projects!

Sweet color combos. Have fun knitting and watching Wimbledon!

If you even think you can knit three pairs of socks in two weeks, you ARE a fast knitter! That's a lot of knitting. Have fun watching tennis and stitching!
P.S. Thanks so much for the congratulations. I'm so excited!

No pressure knitting the socks for me -- I'm happy to be the "tester pancake" and enjoy hand knits that show their character. I'm loving this TiVo and tennis stuff, you really can watch -- all be it at very high sped -- most of the coverage. I got a kick out of watching the great play and positive spirit of Angela Haynes in her match against Serena yesterday!

I love Dalegarn--and those color combos lok grand! Can't wait to see those :)

I have been lurking around and had to respond to this post. I also am watching Wimbledon non-stop on my replay tv, at 5 in the morning before work and after work. All while knitting, well except those early morning hours.
